Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

What is the difference between a consultation and initial session?

The consultation is 15 minutes long and serves as an opportunity for you to tell the therapist what you are looking for in therapy, what goals you want to achieve and for the therapist to tell you a bit about themselves and approach to treatment. Once you have decided to work together, the initial session is 50 minutes long and goes over consent, confidentiality, intake paperwork, overview of your experience that brought you into therapy, goal setting and we begin to build our therapeutic relationship.

What can I expect from therapy?

Therapy is a safe place where your information is kept private, and you can feel heard. We work collaboratively to get you to where you want to be. You will have the opportunity to process life experiences, develop self-awareness, accomplish goals, learn healthy coping skills and get rid of old patterns that aren't working for you anymore.

Where do you offer sessions?

Sessions are currently offered in Brantford Ontario and virtually or by telephone across Ontario. The virtual platform we use is called Jane and is a secure, 100% PHIPA compliant platform.

Can I cancel or reschedule my appointment?

We require 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment to avoid being charged the full session fee. Please reach out as soon as possible via email if you need to cancel your appointment. Please view the cancellation policy.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not currently offer direct billing; however, many extended health care plans cover psychotherapy services. An invoice is provided to you at the end of your session via email. The invoice can be submitted to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

A receipt is provided for the purpose of tax credit in Ontario.
