Hi, I’m Stephanie, Registered Psychotherapist and owner of Your Next Journey. I am passionate about taking a holistic approach to therapy, one that emphasizes treating all parts of a person.

Stephanie West

M.A, Registered Psychotherapist (RP)

Pronouns: She/Her

I was inspired to become a therapist after personally experiencing the benefits of therapy. I was fortunate to not only have a strong connection with my therapist, but also see them throughout my adolescent years. My therapist made a significant impact on my life and my ability to recover from trauma, loss and an eating disorder.

I have twelve years experience providing support to children, adults and families who are facing mental health concerns. Over the years I have worked in schools, children and family services, shelters, detox centers and counseling agencies. My educational background is in social work, mental health and counseling psychology.

Treatment Specialties: anxiety, addiction, body image, depression, disordered eating, self-esteem and trauma.

Types of Therapy: Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems informed (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Attachment based, Polyvagal Theory and Somatic Experiencing informed (SE).

Julia Telford

M.A, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Pronouns: She/Her

I have known since I was 16 years old that psychology, mental health advocacy, and helping others were true passions of mine. My journey with counselling others started just over a decade ago, as a volunteer peer counsellor and a distress line volunteer. Not only did I gain experience, but I truly loved both roles. Since then, I have worked in the field of addiction, and furthered my education.

I have done a lot of my own therapeutic work to become more authentically and intentionally myself. I’d love to walk alongside you to support you do the same. When I am not in the therapist role, I love to spend time in nature, paint, go to the gym, and hang out with my friends and family (my Maine coon cat included of course!).

I completely understand that starting therapy can feel overwhelming. My goal is to hold a judgment free, and compassionate space for you to be honest about what you are struggling with. I want to know what you are going through that is holding you back or keeping you in a unhelpful thought cycle. When we work together, my hope is to help you develop ways of coping that support you to feel confident, grounded and maintain positive changes in your life.

Treatment Specialties: anxiety, stress management, trauma, coping mechanisms, depression, emotional regulation, life transitions, self-esteem, and body image.

Types of Counselling: DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy), IFS (Internal Family Systems), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), attachment focused, trauma informed, and client centered.

I am a Registered Social Worker and a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. With a Master’s in Social Work and a Graduate Certificate in Concurrent Disorders, my passion for helping others has been nurtured by practice experience in the community mental health, addictions, and post-secondary sectors.

I use an eclectic mix of evidence-based modalities coupled with strengths-based and collaborative approaches to support clients, believing that no one knows your life experience better than you. I center my practice on the belief that the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for growth and change, often using use compassion and humour, in addition to therapeutic tools, to make you feel comfortable and build trust between us.

Using trauma-informed and ecological systems frameworks, together we can explore how our environments, current and historical, shape the stories we tell ourselves, who we are, and how we navigate through the world. I strive to provide a safe, warm, and non-judgmental space where we can develop new and adaptive coping strategies, build a deeper connection to our authentic selves, and navigate life’s challenges together to create meaningful change.
