Zahra Rajwani

M.A, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Pronouns: She/Her

When I was 20 years old and completing my graduation whilst planning to move to Canada, I decided to do my internship at a non-profit organization. Such a life-changing decision made me realize that serving humanity is all I intend to do in life! Since then, my journey of being a competent therapist began.

With my background in social service work and counselling psychology, I intend to see 'how' can we collaborate on discovering your strengths, building resilience, and developing positive-coping strategies through several trauma-informed techniques that are best suited for you while creating opportunities for self-growth. I believe in creating discussions that are constructed in a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals and couples. I help foster communication, rebuild trust, and deepen emotional connections within couples. Whether you’re looking to strengthen your relationship, address specific issues, or navigate a difficult period, I am here to guide you toward healing and growth!

When I started to seek my therapeutic journey, I was overwhelmed! However, the deepest therapeutic connection and compassion that I felt during the journey helped me discover that seeking support was the bravest decision I ever made. And you are already here, Bravo!

I am ready to meet you where you are and start our work on creating the meaningful changes you seek in your life and relationships!

Treatment Specialities

I support clients through a range of concerns, including anxiety, body image challenges, depression, emotional regulation, exploring self-identity, immigration and settlement hardships, life transitions, overthinking and ruminating, people-pleasing, self-esteem, and trauma. My work focuses on helping individuals recognize patterns, deepen their self-understanding, and develop supportive tools that foster emotional balance and resilience. I take a collaborative and compassionate approach, tailoring the work to each client’s unique needs and goals, and supporting meaningful, sustainable change that enhances overall well-being.

Therapy Approaches

I draw from a variety of evidence-informed approaches to best meet the needs of each client. This includes:

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT): Helping clients identify, process, and transform difficult emotions to promote healing and deeper self-understanding.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): Supporting clients in processing and reducing the distress associated with traumatic memories.

Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT): Emphasizing strengths and practical strategies to help clients move toward meaningful goals and positive change.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Encouraging clients to accept difficult thoughts and feelings while taking actions aligned with their personal values.

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT): Integrating mindfulness practices with cognitive strategies to increase awareness of thoughts and emotions and reduce distress.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Helping clients recognize and shift unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional challenges.

Narrative Therapy: Supporting clients in exploring and reshaping the stories they hold about themselves and their lives.

Trauma-Informed Therapy: Providing a safe and supportive approach that recognizes the impact of trauma and prioritizes emotional safety, empowerment, and trust.

Person-Centered Therapy: Offering a compassionate, empathetic, and non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, valued, and supported.
